Resumen

Examining the role of universities in social innovation projects in the multicultural setting of Southeast Asia, and exploring their impact on design research and teaching, this conversation reveals the skills developed by students participating in social initiatives and their potential for incorporating these abilities in their professional careers.

Chong Keng Hua, Architecture and Sustainable Design, Singapore University of Technology and Design

PhD in Architecture. Principal researcher of the Social Urban Research Groupe and co-head of Opportunity Lab at Singapore University of Technology and Design. Curator of the Singapore Pavilion at the Venice Biennale International Architecture Exhibition 2018. His research focuses on social architecture, particularly in the areas of ageing, liveable public place, and data-driven collaborative design. Former visiting faculty at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Most recent books are Creative Ageing Cities: Place Design with Older People in Asian Cities and Second Beginnings: Senior Living Redefined.

Angélica Carrillo , Centro de diseño, cine y televisión

Video-maker with a BA in Broadcast & Media from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, where she subsequently held a professorship in the field of Journalism & Media Production for a decade. She currently works as content manager and professor of Film Analysis and Journalism Genres at CENTRO, from which she received an MA in Design Studies. Also a member of CENTRO’s Social Design Hub. Author of several articles, essays, and conferences on diverse topics such as television, journalism, film, documentary and digital media.
