Resumen

A panorama of the changing nature of the design field, and the importance of sharing knowledge and experiences, in the context of DESIS international laboratories, this exploration of similarities and contrasts in design projects for social innovation in Mexico, Brazil, and Europe considers the future professional pathways of a new generation of designers seeking to make a positive social impact.

Biografía del autor/a

Carla Cipolla, DESIS laboratory network and faculty member of the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro.

PhD in Design from Politecnico di Milano. Since 2004 she has been involved in projects on design for social innovation in Europe, Africa, and Brazil. Professor at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), international coordinator of DESIS Network (Design for Social Innovation and Sustainability), and coordinator of the UFRJ DESIS Lab. Her research and design activities focus on design for social innovation and service design, emphasizing international cooperative and comparative projects of relevance to specific Brazilian issues.

Paulina Cornejo Moreno Valle, Centro de diseño, cine y televisión

BA in Art History from the Universidad de Barcelona and an MA in Design Studies from CENTRO. Since 2014, she has been head of CENTRO’s Social Design Hub, where she also teaches and carries out research. Curator of the Gelman Collection of Mexican Art and art projects with a social focus such as Residual / Art Interventions in the City (UNAM-Goethe Institute). Author of 100 Tácticas Creativas para la Seguridad Ciudadana, a toolkit published by the National Crime Prevention Center. Guest editor for specialist magazines and author of articles featuring in international academic publications.
